This is a wonderful example of how to use a smaller space to full capacity. The straight line of the back wall cabinetry is counter-matched by using more flowing organic lines for the main counter and island. The rounded island allows great prep areas. And even though the back wall seems heavy, full, by using the step style the space is visually off-set and dynamic. Also, given that this is a smaller space, the use of light colors maximizes the space.
The round pendent lights here work beautifully to counter-point the round kitchen stools. Notice also that the lines of the stools are not straight. The tailoring or narrowing heightens the visual tension between the light reaching down from above and the stool reach up from below. This is a lovey example of how to use object in combination to draw the viewer’s gaze into the heart of the kitchen. Finally notice the excellent choice of the clear stove hood, which will sever its purpose with demanding a heavy or visual toll for it duty.
