On our way back from New York, we decided to stop over that the Toronto’s international film festival.  Here nearly 300 films are screened in September/October, which arguably supplants Cannes as the world most influential film festival.  And frankly, your money goes a lot further in Toronto that in Cannes. There is something rather special about the highly charged energy people have during film festival.  In fact it almost borders on down right crazy; costumes, parties, reporters, cameras, bright lights, and plenty of incredible free food and drinks.  But, after a few days of the crazed busyness, you will actually want to explore what the rest of this very diverse metropolis has to offer.

The city’s notable modern architecture is beset with architectural jewels by greats like Frank Gehry and Daniel Libeskind.  These modern marvels are dramatic offset against the city’s Victorian brick architecture.  And there is plenty of eclectic, trendy, and crunch, shopping to be had at the many boutiques which line the well know Kensington Market, as well as King and Queen streets.

The city is alive with multiethnic collaborations.  At Chiado you can dine of contemporary Portuguese cuisine prepared by chef Albino Silva.  Try tender slices of raw beef and spiked with basil, chilies and lime at Rua Vang Golden Turtle, which the chef’s choice in Toronto for Vietnamese food.
