Cream furniture might be your best bet, because if you decide to paint your walls a different color in the future, you're guaranteed to coordinate. Our couch is gray but we have black book shelves and other accessories and we used chrome fixtures (lamps etc.) It all came together really well...I've thought about using a bright red or orange to brighten things up....just haven't got there yet.
